Half-Up Rose Bun

Step-By-Step Tutorial

It’s Easter weekend, and I’ve got a pretty hairstyle for you to wear to church this holiday.

To begin, section your hair into two parts, the top and bottom starting from the top of your ear (or wherever you prefer).  If you want some volume on top, do some backcombing and loosed up with your fingers.  But you won’t want to backcomb all the way to the ends because that will make it difficult to work with in our next step.

Next, braid the top section in a regular three strand braid.  Secure the braid with a clear elastic.

Pull on one side of the braid (for me, it was the left side).  You’re not pulling the hair out of the braid, but loosening it up so that it looks more full on one side.  That side will be our petals for the rose bun.

Then, take the ends of the braid and start rolling them all the way to the beginning of the braid.  Place the un-pulled side (which would be my right side) of the braided bun down on top of where you started the braid.  Secure with some bobby pins and hair pins, and spray with some finishing hairspray.
