Before starting this hairstyle, I used Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo, 5.3 Ounce to minimize shine and add texture.

To begin this hairstyle, put your hair in a high ponytail and secure with a clear elastic.  I did some backcombing before putting my hair up to add some volume.  My favorite tool for teasing is this SalonChic 8″ Deluxe Triple Teasing Comb.

Next take a small section of hair from the ponytail and tie it into a knot.  The extra hair that is pulled through can be wrapped around the knot and secured with a bobby pin (MetaGrip Premium Hair Pins Black are the best).

Once the bobby pin is in place, pull on the knot to increase volume.

Continue this process of knotting small sections of hair until all the hair from the ponytail is knotted.

Pull on each knot to loosen.

It looks a lot more complicated than it actually is.  You’ll want to finish this style off with a good douse of hairspray.  My favorite one for holding updos in place is Big Sexy Hair Firm Volumizing Hairspray, Spray & Play Harder, 10 oz (335ml) 284g.
