Straighten That Crown

2015-12-27 09.21.37 1

Imagine if Clark Kent saw himself only as Clark Kent. Never knowing that he had the powers of Superman.  Never stepping out in faith to fly.  Never saving the world from the villains who plague its cities.  All because he refused to see himself as the Superhero he was.

Here is my cry to you: Know who you are in Christ.

There is an epidemic in this world.  It’s an identity crisis.  It’s killing potential.  It’s putting out the fire God has placed in our hearts.  It’s a parasite leaching off the power we all have within us to change this world.

Those thoughts that go through your head telling you that you’re not enough, captivate them.
That girl you envy on social media, replace that begrudging with appreciation.

How can we do this?  Not alone.  Reading the Bible will never be enough.  For even satan can quote scripture.  You must seek His face through prayer.  You must hide His word in your heart every day.  You must come after the enemy like a roaring lion.  Don’t be the seed scattered among the thorns.  This world won’t last.  This world is desperately trying to trample on God’s truth, hope, and His promises replacing them with lofty ideas that never fulfill those empty spaces in our souls.

“As for what was sown among thorns, this is he who hears the Word, but the cares of the world and the pleasure and delight and glamour and deceitfulness of riches choke and suffocate the Word, and it yields no fruit. ” -Matthew 13:22

You can carry on as Clark Kent.
You can continue letting this world tell you that you’re not a Superhero.  But if you do, you’ll be missing out on God’s amazing plans for your life, and that would be the world’s greatest misfortune.

Ladies, straighten your crown.
Lift your eyes.
You are the daughter of the King.

  1. Amen to this! What an encouraging post. Sometimes we forget who we are in Christ. That we have crown that the world always is trying take it down, but if we are in Christ we have the authority to declare the Word of God against it! – I’m a daughter of a powerful King! Blessings

Thank you so much for this encouraging word. I think we all need reminding from time to time….especially in a world with so much competition and an Enemy who whispers “beat downs” in our ears. Thank you for a powerful word today. xoxo

Oh how I love this! What an excellent reminder to “straighten my crown.” It can become so easy to believe the lies the world tells us when we aren’t steadfast in our relationships with God.

    1. Janell says:

Absolutely! We must always put on the armor of God. At the point where we say “no” to God (this includes thinking we aren’t worthy of His grace), we open a little crack in the armor where Satan’s arrows can get through. Thank you so much for reading!
